Listen

Listening is really difficult.  Especially with all the noise around us today.  I think if a time traveler came to our time from the past, the first thing they would notice is the constant noise in our lives.  Between radio, television, phones, computers and all the other machines that talk to us every day, the noise never ceases.  Having a one on one conversation where one person listens while the other person talks is becoming a lost art.  It’s amazing how many people you can see driving down the road where the driver is talking into a cell phone and the passenger is also on a cell phone.  Can we not converse with the person beside us?  In our society of constant talking and very little listening, we need to remember that an important part of prayer is listening to God.  If our prayers consist of us simply talking at God for a few minutes each day, how will we ever hear His answers?  Make sure you take five minutes today during a prayer to just listen.  You might be surprised by what you hear.

Matthew 13:15-16

For this people’s heart has become calloused;  they hardly hear with their ears,  and they have closed their eyes.  Otherwise they might see with their eyes,   hear with their ears,   understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.  But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.
